DMD-CAT is a non-profit organization founded in 1984 that defends the freedom of every person to decide the moment and the way to end his/her life, especially when he/she suffers irreversible deterioration and unbearable suffering. According to its statuses, its purpose is;
DEFEND THE RIGHT OF THE CITIZEN AT THE END OF LIFE (Law 41/2002 of Patient Autonomy).
-To decide freely between the available clinical options (inform consent)
-To refuse treatment, and to respect the decisions taken freely and voluntarily by the patient.
-To express their will in advance in the Advanced Directive Documents (DVA).
-To move away from suffering, accessing a quality palliative medicine that is respectful of their values and benefits.
-To avoid inhuman or degrading treatment, resorting to palliative sedation (dying asleep) if this is your will.
